Alcohol and intoxicants are forbidden.

Alcohol and intoxicants are forbidden in Islam. Allah says! Anything that, when consumed or drunk, causes the loss of intellect is forbidden. The Quran uses the word *al-khamr*, which means alcohol or any intoxicant: the consumption of which clouds the intellect.

God prohibited intoxicants step by step, and in the third command declared them completely forbidden.

The First Commandment.

The first commandment stated that the "harms" of alcohol far outweigh its "benefits". In fact, alcohol or intoxication may provide a person with mental peace for a short time. But its permanent harms are far more dangerous. It causes discord in the family, destroys religion, reason and morality. It makes one forgetful of the remembrance of Allah and prayer. A person loses his dignity in society.

Q-02:219

People ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say: In both of them is great evil and some (worldly) benefits, but the evil of them outweighs their benefits.

The Second Commandment.

The second commandment states that one should not approach the prayer while intoxicated. Because a person is not pure in a state of intoxication. And God does not like impure people and does not accept their worship. It is narrated that the prayer of one who eats a morsel of forbidden food is not accepted for forty nights.

Q-04:43

O you who believe, do not approach prayer when you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying.

The Third Commandment.

Finally, in the third commandment, a complete prohibition of intoxicants was revealed. In this commandment, Allah Almighty declares intoxication to be the work of Devil. And He commands that you keep yourself completely separate from everything that distracts you from the remembrance of Allah and prayer.

Q-05:90-91

O you who believe! Indeed, intoxicants, intoxicants, gambling, idols, and the arrows of the dice are abominable. These are the work of Satan. So, avoid them altogether. That you may prosper. (90) Satan only wants to sow enmity and hatred between you by means of intoxicants and gambling, and to hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. Will you not then desist? (91)

Allah has expressly forbidden alcohol and everything that destroys reason, because reason is the blessing that distinguishes man from animals. So, stay away from intoxicants, because these are the works of Devil, and their end is hatred and enmity in this world and deprivation of the mercy of your Lord in the Hereafter.
